Mercury Transit Viewing

Monday November 11, 2019
06:00 am - 08:30 am

Check out planet Mercury pass across the Sun!

W. M. Keck Observatory invites the community to its Mercury Transit Viewing at its headquarters in Waimea.

We’ll start the morning showing a live feed of the beginning of the transit in the Jerry Nelson Conference Room.

When the Sun comes over North Hawaii Community Hospital, come outside to the parking lot and join Keck Observatory astronomers and staff, along with members from the West Hawaii Astronomy Club, to safely view Mercury through solar telescopes.

This is a rare event that won’t be visible from Hawaii again for another 30 years – please join us!

SCHEDULE:

  • 6:00 am: Live feed of the start of the transit, Jerry Nelson Conference Room
  • 7:00 am: Telescope viewing, Keck Observatory Parking Lot
