GEMS Shine for Exploring Science

When it comes to exploring math and science, these GEMS shine with curiosity! After a three-year hiatus, the Girls Exploring Math and Science (GEMS) program returned this year. Fifth grade girls across West Hawai‘i attended workshops designed to foster an appreciation for math and science, from robotics to astronomy, marine science, dermatology, and more. We are grateful for women in STEM fields who serve as inspirational role models for Hawaiʻi’s next generation of wahine math and science leaders. Among these women is Keckie Liz Chock, a software engineer, who led a workshop on Creative Computer Programming and helped girls design a special “PokeGEMS” name tag.
